Throughout its long history, the Mustang has melted the hearts of many with its many models over the decades. The new Mustang’s appearance respects many of the Mustang’s hallmarks, and the major changes in the automotive world have not been able to undermine Ford’s work along the way.

As a driving experience, the Mustang shows the best of the American car. It’s very effortless and easy to drive. No gimmicks have been left out of the car, and the simplicity of the design works. But let’s not forget the driving feel, which surprises with its positively sharp feel.

The adjustable MagneRide chassis is a little surface-harsh even at normal settings, but on twisty roads and at higher speeds the chassis does its job with precision and sensitivity. Praise is also due to the very precise steering feel, which is provided by the electric power steering.

The Mustangs coming to Finland are powered by a 2.3-litre, four-cylinder EcoBoost and a 5.0-litre V8. The EcoBoost engine produces 290 horsepower and the V8 engine 450 horsepower. Both engines are available with a conventional six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic.

The Mustang comes with almost all the equipment you need as standard, and there is little need for an options list. LED headlights with automatic headlamp levelling, active cruise control, lane departure warning and comprehensive collision avoidance with automatic braking, among other things, come as standard in the car to increase safety.

The GT model also comes standard with an active-valve exhaust system, allowing the authentic V8 soundscape to be adjusted to suit the mood to crown the Mustang experience.

Antti’s reviews:

Overall rating in the Sports Cars category: 3.8 / 5.0

Feeling vs. reason: with the four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, the Mustang could be considered with reason. With this big V8 engine, the Mustang goes straight for the emotions. In a muscle car like the Mustang, a big V8 engine is perhaps still somewhat acceptable and justifiable.

Car fever: I dare say this will be one of the last, if not the last Mustang to get a big V8, at least in Europe. The Mustang’s image revolves so strongly around the engine and the soundscape that this package feels complete and creates a huge desire for ownership.
