The Swedish brand has spent decades pairing understated design with class-leading safety engineering, and is now pivoting hard towards battery power. We’ve tested the electric EX30 and C40, the plug-in XC60 T8 and V60 T6 TwE, and a run of combustion and mild-hybrid XC90, XC60, XC40, S60 and V60 models. Volvo is targeting 90 per cent electrified sales by 2030, with the EX30 now built in Ghent and an ES90 saloon joining the range.
