We got to test the driving performance of the all-electric Volvo EX30 and EX40 models on the ice track in Luleå, Sweden.

Both models were fitted with normal street tyres and had not been modified for ice track driving in any other way.
The very slippery surface of the ice track, heated by the spring sun, posed its own challenge.

The EX30 is the latest addition to Volvo’s range, and is available with two different battery sizes and two different powertrains. A significant number of EX30 models have already been pre-ordered in Finland and the first customer deliveries for the larger battery size models are expected in July this year.

The estimated delivery date for the smaller EX30 models is a few months later in October.

The other model tested on the ice was the EX40, a car familiar from Volvo’s range and formerly known as the XC40 Recharge.

The cars’ dimensions, masses and power trains with their differences made the models very different in terms of driveability in slippery conditions. Watch the video to see how the EX30 and EX40 performed in extreme conditions!
