The Ferrari 488 GTB presented by Maranello in 2015 can be considered the most “traditional” model in the current Ferrari range. It is a mid-engined, two-seater, low and eye-catching beauty. Of course, the Rosso Corsa is still red on the outside!
The twin-turbocharged V8 engine has been given a juicy 670 horsepower and 760 newton metres of torque, accompanied by a roaring sound. In addition to the traditional Ferrari exhaust note, the hissing of the turbo is also heard in the cockpit, sending shivers down the spine of the driver time and time again.
The Ferrari 488 GTB has many of the same features as the 458 that preceded it from 2009 to 2015, but the 488 GTB is no mere update. Seen from any angle, the car looks very beautiful and, above all, a classic modern Ferrari.
Compared to the previous 458, the front bumper has a simpler shape and there are large air intakes for the turbos in front of the rear wheels. The rear end of the car could even be described as simply sexy, with the large diffuser and twin exhaust outlets catching the eye.
Ferrari says the 488 GTB delivers 50 percent more downforce than its predecessor, while reducing drag. Thanks to the aerodynamic design of the car’s underbody and the use of air-swirl control units, among other things, the car achieves downforce of up to 325 kg at 250 km/h.
The feeling is indescribable
The driving experience of the Ferrari 488 GTB is very difficult to describe on video, let alone put into words. The emotion of a supercar like Ferrari is one of those things that you just have to experience for yourself!
The driving feel is unimaginably precise in all areas, whether it’s the sensitivity of the throttle, the chassis, the steering or the speed of the gears. Everything works like a dream, as it should in an Italian supercar!
Under normal street conditions, a supercar in this class can only be peered at lightly below the surface. What lies within the shell only comes to light in track conditions.
In addition to the GTB model, the Ferrari 488 is currently available in the 488 Spider convertible and the even more race-prepped 488 Pista hardtop and convertible versions. the 488 Pista is powered by the most powerful V8 engine ever produced by Ferrari. Acceleration figures are staggering: 0-100 km/h is achieved in 2.85 seconds and 200 km/h is reached in 7.6 seconds.
Luxury Collection in Lempäälä
The Lempäälä-based Luxury Collection currently imports not only Ferrari but also Bentey, Lamborghini, Maserati and McLaren. The Lempäälä branch has a huge number of prestige cars for sale and the sales collection can be considered unique in the Finnish market.
According to Miika Toivonen, Managing Director of Luxury Collection, more Ferraris and other prestige cars are being sold than ever, and at an accelerating pace. All Ferraris that are available from the factory are selling.
Mr Toivonen also says that at the moment it is not necessarily enough to have “just a Ferrari”, but that the car has to be customised to be your very own Ferrari. The equipment, colours and materials used are carefully chosen according to personal preferences.
In Finland, it has not been customary to let one’s own success show (‘Kell´onni on, se fortune hiding’) in any way, including driving super and luxury cars. Many sports stars are also very sparing about their car collections, even if they live outside Finland, for example in California or Monaco. Toivonen believes that the situation is changing and that the courage to buy supercars such as Ferrari will increase in the future.

Ant’s estimate:
Overall rating in the supercar category: 4.1 / 5.0
Feeling vs. reason: If you think about it, Finland is not the most suitable country to buy a Ferrari, considering for example the seasons and the car tax. If you don’t see these things as limiting your life, the negatives will be forgotten behind the wheel at the latest. Emotional turbulence is a fact of life at the wheel of this beauty.
Car fever: I’d be lying if I said that the Ferrari 488 GTB doesn’t give you car fever. When the car fever reaches 41.5 degrees, the car will stay in your mind for a long time. A place for this supercar could be found in the garage at any time.
